RECEPTIONIST

The Cape Cod Chronicle, the Lower Cape’s only independent news outlet, is hiring a part-time (20 hours per week) receptionist to help us provide attentive, friendly, efficient customer service to callers and visitors to our office in Chatham. The best candidates will have experience working in an office environment with a proven track record of providing outstanding customer relations. You must be proficient with a Windows computer and be able to learn new skills, and you must be able to operate an office telephone system. Hours are Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 3 p.m., but exact hours are negotiable. RECEPTIONIST -- Job Description

Reports to:    Publisher
Status:        Part-time, 20 hours per week.
Terms:        To be negotiated, commensurate with experience

Overview:
A part-time position of receptionist for The Cape Cod Chronicle.

Requires:
Strong customer service skills. Ability to provide callers and office visitors with friendly, efficient service. Must provide customers with a superior first impression of the business.
Office experience. Must be able to operate the office telephone system and perform routine office tasks in service of other employees. Must be proficient with email. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer experience. Must be comfortable with Windows computing and must be able to be trained on the company’s subscription system.
Must have reliable transportation, fluency in the English language.

Duties include:
Greeting visitors to the office and providing help with classified ads and subscriptions, including changes of address, renewals, new subscriptions and cancellations. Training will be provided.
Referring visitors to the appropriate staff members for other types of assistance, like placing or changing advertisements or submitting letters to the editor.
Responding to, or properly forwarding, messages left in the front desk voicemail box.
Receiving deliveries to the office and forwarding them to the appropriate employee.
Other duties as assigned.

Hours:
Mondays and Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 3 p.m.
Hours may be adjusted. Shifts must be worked at The Chronicle’s offices in Chatham; remote work is not authorized.
