Scout Spirit Expressed Throughout Fundraiser
---- For the past couple of years, parents have partnered with the Chatham Boy Scouts to raise money by collecting Christmas trees in January. At a recent meeting, the scouts wrote a handful of thoughtful notes thanking some of the individuals and businesses who supported the activity, which this year benefits the Chatham Angel Fund and the Family Pantry of Cape Cod. The fundraiser was widely supported by the community. The heavy lifting is done by the scouts and volunteer drivers — dads, grandpas, and uncles with access to trucks and trailers. COURTESY PHOTO
Wequassett’s Community Impact Fund Supports CCS
----- Representatives of the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club recently presented the Center for Coastal Studies with a donation of $30,000. The gift will support the Center for Coastal Studies’ marine research, rescue, and education programs. The gift comes from the resort’s Community Impact Fund, a philanthropic effort aimed at creating meaningful change to enrich the local community, with emphasis on education, conservation, and workforce vibrancy. The fund comes from an optional 1 percent fee paid by the resort’s guests, all of which goes to the local organizations chosen to receive the gifts. For 2024, the Center for Coastal Studies joins The Family Pantry, Outer Cape Health, and the Harwich Children’s Fund as recipients. Shown here is Thulander, left, presenting the check for $30,000 to the Center For Coastal Studies. Also shown are Wequassett colleagues Kari Monahan, Jamie McPhee, Nancy Covell and Amy Farrell and CCS Director of Education Jesse Mechling, Development Director Sue Nickerson and Assistant Development Director Laura Stinson.
