Council On Aging Fashion Show Was A Big Hit
HARWICH – The council on aging held its inaugural spring fashion show at the community center last week, with seniors strutting their stuff on the catwalk in a rather royal manner.
“Forget New York and Paris! It’s ‘reigning’ fashion in Harwich,” the announcement for the event read. With styles inspired by the Royal Family, a group of confident seniors came together with a stunning display of outfits to glide down “The Royal Runway.” The show celebrated every shape, size, age, and ability, so canes, wheelchairs, rollators, and any other assistive devices had a place in the show, according to COA Director Julie Witas.
“The Royal Family is known for bringing fashion and fun to the forefront in every decade, so we gave our models our blessing to find inspiration from any period to keep us on our toes throughout the show,” Witas said.
Tim Kelley, a local meteorologist, was emcee for the show. The event was made possible with a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, said Witas.
