Frances G. Bishop

Frances G. Bishop, 107, passed away on October 30, 2022, in Marietta, OH where she had resided for the past 14 years. She was born on September 3, 1915, in Kirksville, MO to Clifford & Beulah Glasgow. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Charles J. Bishop, whom she met while they were attending separate colleges in Kirksville. After attending Truman State University, Fran joined her husband in Boston where they were married in 1936. Charles’ medical practice took them to Maine, the Boston area & later to Cape Cod where they lived for over 20 years. Fran worked at Northeastern University, Dennison Mfg. Co. in Framingham & Nauset Regional High School & Eastham Town Hall on Cape Cod. She also helped her husband as an assistant in his medical practice. During most of her lifetime, she volunteered in her community & for various organizations including serving as Block Captain for the Eastham Triad (Police Dept., Fire Dept. & Council on Aging). She was also active in the Eastham United Methodist Church. She was a lover of history & volunteered at the Marietta Historical Society & The Castle in OH. She was also an avid reader & skilled sewer & knitter. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Heywood of Yarmouth, ME & Jane Kreig of Naples, FL & several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

A Memorial Service for Fran will take place at the Eastham United Methodist Church, 3200 Route 6, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 1:15pm followed by a reception to share our memories of her. Memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Marietta Hospice Care, 27855 State Route 7, Marietta, OH 45750. Fran will be remembered for her kindness, selfless acts, sense of humor, positive attitude & love of life & people. She loved chocolates & flowers & believed in angels & we know that now we have our very own special angel in Heaven.
