(1937–2024)

Robert Casey (Bob), 86, of West Harwich, MA (formerly of Watertown, MA) passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, March 28, 2024 with his wife and children by his side. Bob will be well remembered as being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather as well as a steadfast friend who exemplified honesty and integrity.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanor I. Casey. He also leaves his daughter Carolyn E. Grant, her husband Shawn P. Grant, their two daughters, Taylor Isabelle and Reagan Elizabeth (of Tolland, CT) as well as his son William R. Casey and his son’s husband Javier A. Castillo (of Boston, MA). Bob was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Bernadette Casey, who themselves had four children and numerous grandchildren.

Bob was born in Boston on October 1st, 1937 to Henry and Eileen (Cassidy) Casey of Belmont, MA. He attended Boston College High School and began his studies in Civil Engineering at Northeastern University, subsequently graduating from MIT with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree which eventually led to a career with the Federal Department of Transportation. Prior to joining the department, Bob reached the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the Army followed by four years as a reservist with the Army Corps. of Engineers.

Upon retirement, he and Eleanor moved to their summer home in West Harwich. He was a long-standing member of Cranberry Valley Golf Course in Harwich, where he golfed more rounds than you can count. He loved hosting his children and grandchildren at the Cape which included long days spent at the beach, cookouts and many nights playing board games after dinner. He was so very proud of his children and adored his granddaughters. He enjoyed watching them all grow through the years and spent many hours reading story after story and attending too many games, matches, concerts, and dance recitals to mention.

He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue through his family and we will forever cherish the many memories made throughout his well lived life. Rest In Peace Bob.
