Monomoy Field Hockey Advances In Division 4 State Tournament

HARWICH – Senior Susannah Brown and Emery Cappallo both registered hat tricks, Samantha Clarke tallied two goals, and Cassidi Manchuk and Emily Layton added a goal apiece to help third-seeded the Monomoy girls field hockey team roll past No. 30 North Brookfield, 10-0, on Friday in the opening round of the Division 4 state tournament.

With the win, Monomoy advanced to the Round of 16 against 14th-seeded Nantucket on Tuesday after The Chronicle’s deadline. The winner will face No. 11 Clinton in the state quarterfinals (date/time TBD).

Soccer

The 20th-seeded Nauset girls soccer team suffered a 5-4 loss to No. 13 Auburn in penalty kicks to fall in the opening round of the Division 3 state tournament. Nauset’s boys soccer team, seeded 10th, suffered a 2-1 loss to No. 23 Belchertown in the first round of the Division 3 boys tournament.

The 16th-seeded Monomoy’s girls soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 17 Manchester Essex in the opening round of the Division 4 state tournament.
