Artifact Cabinets Give New Life To Church Library Shelves

First Congregational Church of Harwich Historian Richard Siegel, Phyllis Cushlanis representing Pine Oaks Village Homes and a First Church trustee, John Bester, finished placing church and community artifacts in three newly designed artifact cabinets in the Church's Parish House. The cabinetry project was led by Siegel and built by the Chatham-Harwich Newcomers Club Woodworkers. The Pine Oaks Village board heard about the project and saw it as a fitting memorial for Mary Ann Janick, a member of First Church and longtime Pine Oaks Village Homes Board of Director. The POVH board donated a check to the church for the cabinetry. A plaque and photo will be provided to memorialize Mary Ann Janick. April 28 is the projected date of dedication with the public invited.

Fun Dinner Night

On Feb. 15, the Harwich Community Center hosted a free community spaghetti dinner. Volunteers made table decorations and served dinners to the many who came. People of all ages introduced themselves to table mates and shared a delicious meal. COURTESY PHOTO

Scouts In The House

The Unitarian Universalist Meeting House in Chatham welcomed scout troop members to "Scout Sunday" on Feb. 25. The service celebrated Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts who participated in the morning service and spoke about their scouting experiences and projects. A special highlight was a trumpet solo by Luka Eldredge (inset). The UU Meeting House is a sponsor of Chatham's Boy Scout Troop 71, Cub Scout Pack 71, and Girl Scout Troop 80727.
