Nauset Track And Field Captures Boys, Girls League Titles

The Nauset boys and girls track and field teams returned home from Boston with hardware in hand on Sunday after both teams captured top prizes at the Cape and Islands League championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The girls posted a team score of 119.5 to hold off Dennis-Yarmouth (104.5) and Barnstable (94) en route to their title, while the boys squad posted a team tally of 120 to best Barnstable (102) and Falmouth (76) and claim the title.

The girls’ individual champions included Madeline Mahoney (1,000-meter run, 3:08.46) and Elizabeth Mayer (shot put, 30 feet, 11.25 inches). Violet Roche added titles in the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches) and the long jump (16 feet, 8 inches).

Adian Brown won boys titles in the 55-meter dash (6.79 seconds) and the 55 hurdles (8 seconds), while Damian Bebber won the 300-meter dash (36.78 seconds) and the 600 dash (132.87). Paytah Dill won the long jump title (19 feet, 4.75 inches), and Nauset’s boys 4x200 relay captured the league title in 1:36.13.
