Roger Ling
October 14, 2026
CHATHAM, Massachusetts — Roger Ling, 74, passed away on October 5, 2026, from complications following a car accident. Roger was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, on May 7, 1952, to Robin and Star (Tansey) Ling, and moved to Chatham at a young age. He went on to build a life deeply connected to the town and its community.
Roger was a man of energy, ambition, and unmistakable personality. Intelligent and resourceful, he had a knack for solving problems and a willingness to take on a challenge. In 1985, he founded Ling Electric, building it into a successful business over four decades as a Master Electrician. In later years, he worked alongside his son Garrett, continuing a legacy that combined his professional accomplishments with his family.
Outside of work, Roger enjoyed cars, motorcycles, RC boats and planes, kites, and travel to tropical destinations. He also had a particular fondness for adventuring in local storms. Whether it was a hurricane or a blizzard, when the weather turned severe, Roger was often out driving his truck, drawn to the excitement of an adventure few others would seek.
Roger was especially proud of his three sons, often describing them as the greatest accomplishment of his life. He gave generously of his time and talents to the Chatham community. Through Ling Electric, he supported local organizations and events for many years – of particular note is his support of The Chatham Merchants Association in Kate Gould Park, Monomoy Community Services and the Taste of Chatham, and the First Night Committee especially with the New Year’s Eve Cod Drop.
Roger is survived by his sons, Dalton Ling and his wife, Lucia Castellana, of Boston; Cody Ling and his partner, Cindy Hernandez, of Falls Church, Virginia; and Garrett Ling of Chatham; his wife, Jennifer Norwood, of Chatham; his former wife and the mother of his sons, Gretchen Miller, of Chatham; his sister, Kim Farber, and her husband, Peter Farber, of Chatham.
Calling hours will be held at the Chapman Funeral Home in Harwich on Sunday, October 25 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM followed by a celebration of life at the Chatham Wayside Inn from 02:00PM – 5:00PM. Burial will be private at the Seaside Cemetery in Chatham.
