:l Law Enforcement Appreciation Day attracted its biggest crowd yet, according to Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cyndi Williams.
“This was certainly the largest one we’ve done,” she said.
The event was full of engaging activities, whether it was the state police helicopter flyover, the first annual Responders Motorcycle Ride, music, food or the opportunity to assist the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Attendees had a great time, according to Williams.
Williams said the Responders Motorcycle Ride, which began at Craigville Beach, brought an estimated 300 motorcycles to the event. Police departments from Harwich, Chatham, Brewster and Dennis were represented along with motorcycle police units from across the Cape.
The annual event is sponsored by the chamber of commerce and Hinckley Home Center and put on in the parking lot of Hinckley’s Route 137 store. The Animal Rescue League of Boston was on hand collecting donations and food for its F.E.D. (Full Every Day) program helping struggling families provide food for their pets through a community pet food pantry.
The event was filled with the sounds of the Kerosene Heater Band.
“It’s awesome that the chamber and Hinckley do this,” Harwich Police Chief Kevin Considine said. “Having the community come out and having all the kids here is just amazing.”
