Ruth Jenkins
Ruth, 93, of Brewster, MA passed away at home on Friday, January, 26, 2024. Born on August 20, 1930 in Stoughton, MA. She was the daughter of James and Bernice Sidebottom. Ruth is predeceased by her older siblings, Bernice, Olive, Alfred and Jack. Ruth attended Stoughton High School where she met her future husband, Paul E. Jenkins. She and Paul eloped on October 4, 1950.
They moved to South Chatham, MA and later to Brewster, where they started their family-owned business of plumbing, heating and well drilling in 1963. She worked side by side with Paul in the office and on the job sites until his passing in 2003. Ruth was still actively involved in the bookkeeping end of Paul Jenkins and Sons, Inc. and Jenkins Well Drilling up until a few weeks prior to her passing.
Ruth’s passions were quilting, needlepoint and traveling. She loved all animals especially all the families dogs that she considered to be all her own. She loved making and giving away handmade gifts to everyone. She was lovingly known as Gram or Grannie to everyone she met.
She leaves behind her three children, her daughter Ruth A. (Cindy) Grover and her husband (Doug) of Brewster, MA, and her two sons, Paul E. (Joe) Jenkins Jr. and David S. Jenkins and his wife (Heidi) of Brewster, MA. Six grandchildren, Timothy Grover of Jupiter, FL, Andrew Grover (and Mary) of Chatham, MA. Katlin A. (Jenkins) Maguire (and Justin) of Harwich, MA. Elizabeth Grover (and Humberto Urena) of Brewster, MA. Paul E. Jenkins (PJ) III (and his partner Stephanie Powers) of Yarmouth, MA. And James D. Grover (and Jennifer) of Plymouth, MA. As well as four great grandchildren, Henry and Gavin Grover of Chatham, MA. Neyda Urena of Brewster, MA and Odin Grover of Plymouth, MA.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her family and all those that came to know and love her. Visiting hours will be this Saturday February 3rd, 2024 from 1-4PM at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 02653. A memorial service will be privately held at a future date.
