Water Main Break Closes Stage Harbor Road

CHATHAM -- Stage Harbor Road was closed to traffic Thursday afternoon after a water main break created a sink hole, undermining some of the pavement.

The break occurred opposite the Atwood House Museum. Water from the break ran into the museum's parking lot, creating a large puddle.

Water service to Stage Harbor Road and side streets between Cedar Street and Bridge Street was shut off.

Officials at the scene said they hoped to repair the main and restore water service to customers by nightfall.
