Judith Adelman Ballantine

July 07, 2026

Judith Adelman Ballantine of Harwich Port, passed away on June 26, 2026.  She was the loving wife of Larry Gene Ballantine for just under 55 years.
Judy lived a life that was colored by creativity in many forms.  She was a born artist with an incredible eye for finding beauty in the world around her.  She earned a degree in Fine Arts that served to hone the skills she’d had since she was a child. She spread her artistic prowess everywhere she went, from painting scenes from Peter Rabbit on the wall at the pediatrician’s office to turning the stairway of her home into a flower garden.  Helping her grandkids with art projects was a special pleasure.
Judy was also a lover of music.  Her father encouraged her to pick out a guitar in college and she learned to strum her favorite folk tunes while she sang.  She loved few things more than making music with other people-including the Irish sessions and myriad of musicians she discovered while living on Cape Cod.  Later in life, she fulfilled a long-standing dream of learning to play the harp and brought joy to her listeners.
The only thing Judy loved more than art was her family.  “Devoted” does not do justice to the amount of love she gave to her husband, children, grandchildren and siblings.  Family was everything.  She made sure that home was a place where loved ones were always welcome and valued her relationships with her husband and daughters above all else.
In addition to Larry, she is survived by two daughters and their families, Jamie Elizabeth  O’Donnell (Grandkids: Jason and Alex O’Donnell) and Jessie Amanda Ballantine (husband: William Carbo; Grandkids: Thea and Griffin Carbo), and her brother David Adelman.  She was predeceased by her brother Richard Adelman and her parents Barbara (Burg) and Elliott Adelman.
Judy and Larry enjoyed being members of Allen Harbor Yacht Club in Harwich Port.
Judy was kind and generous, smart and curious, imaginative and expressive.  The world is a better place for having had her in it.  She will be missed terribly by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2nd from 11am - 1pm at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 678 Main Street, Harwich.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Harwich Food Pantry or Outer Cape Health Services.
