Mike Hanafee

Mike Hanafee, whose witty and unforgettable personality left a lasting impression on all who knew him, passed away on January 6 in the presence of his son, Mike, and two of his granddaughters, Claire and Emma Hanafee. Mike was born April 2, 1934 in Riverside, Connecticut. Mike is predeceased by his first wife Gwen Hanafee, with whom they shared four children; Kim, Wendy, Kathy, and Mike. Mike is also predeceased by his second wife, Liz Hanafee.
After a career at General Motors in Detroit, Mike and Liz, upon his retirement moved to Cape Cod in 1994. Mike loved gardening and could be found working for hours a day in his backyard. He also loved playing in the Cape Cod Senior Softball League where he played and coached up until he was 89. If one of his players made a mental error they knew about it! Mike also loved hosting his grandkids on summer visits.
There will be a gravesite memorial service for Mike on Friday May 22, 2PM at People’s Cemetery in Chatham located at the corner of Stepping Stone and Crowell, Plot 360. The service will be officiated by his son, Pastor Mike Hanafee. Please spread the word to all who knew Mike!
