Brewster’s Stony Brook Mill Reopens
BREWSTER – After five years of project design, development and construction, the retaining wall and fish passage updates are officially complete at Stony Brook Mill.
On Friday, March 20, the town announced the south side of Stony Brook Mill, which includes the mill itself, will reopen to the public on March 28. The north side, which includes the herring run, will reopen April 4, just in time for the herring to make an appearance.
Over the winter, weather caused some major delays to the work. Additionally, the historic weir that crews uncovered paused the project while the historic commission cataloged the artifact.
“The town of Brewster would like to thank our project partners for their support throughout the design and construction of the improvements,” the announcement read. “[They] include the Natural Resource Conservation Service, the Cape Cod Conservation District, the Division of Marine Fisheries, Tighe and Bond, the community preservation committee, the mill sites committee, and the alewife committee. The town would also like to thank the general contractor, Speakman Excavating, LLC, and their subcontractors for their diligence and care in completing this complex project.”
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
