‘Soup Bowls For Hunger’ Returns April 8
PLEASANT LAKE – It takes creativity to fight the problem of food insecurity in Barnstable County. Fortunately, the Cape Cod Potters have that in spades.
For the 33rd year, the organization will host its “Soup Bowls for Hunger” event at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich. This year’s event, taking place April 8, benefits The Family Pantry of Cape Cod.
The event has a dedicated core of devotees, and tickets often go quickly.
“The event is a unique collaboration between Cape Cod’s artistic, educational, and nonprofit communities,” Cape Cod Potters’ President Michael Merritt said. “Each year, hundreds of soup bowls are handcrafted by professional ceramicists, hobbyists, and student artists from across the Cape and donated to the event. Culinary students at Cape Tech prepare and serve a hearty meal of soup, bread and beverage. The attendees, who hail from across the Cape, attend to support The Family Pantry and go home with a unique soup bowl as a memento of the evening and a reminder about the food insecurity facing so many of our friends and neighbors on Cape Cod.”
Tickets, available at www.CapeCodPotters.org, are $35 per attendee, with all of the proceeds going to the Family Pantry. Seatings are at 5, 5:45 and 6:30 p.m.
A healthy Barnstable County requires great community news.
