ORLEANS – Nauset senior Jordyn Streitmatter didn’t view the offseason as a time to rest and be comfortable. Instead, Streitmatter worked on her craft and improved her game while working out with Ben Vaneria through his Swish Training Program.

The results of Streitmatter’s hard work were on display Friday night, as she scored a game-high 15 points to help the Nauset girls basketball team pull away for a 44-30 victory over Martha’s Vineyard.

“Over the offseason, she did a lot of strength and conditioning and it helped not only her game, but her confidence,” Nauset coach Jean Leyton said. “You can definitely see it. She’s stepped it up from last year and the year before and the year before. The strength and conditioning made a big difference for her.”

Streitmatter demonstrated her shooting ability early in the game, as she made two 3-pointers in the first quarter before adding another in the second frame. The Brewster resident credited her strong start to the season on the extra work she put in during the offseason, as well as the continued support she receives from her friends and family.

“Training a lot has definitely boosted my confidence,” Streitmatter said. “And having people here to support me that know I can do it helps me know that I can.”
