Gordon C. Templeton
February 04, 2026
Gordon C. Templeton, of Plymouth, Massachusetts, formerly of Orleans, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on May 18, 1945, in Bombay, India, Gordon was the son of Campbell Fleming Templeton and Dorothy Hilda (Cannon) Templeton. An only child, he was raised in Cape Town, South Africa, where he attended private school. During these formative years, Gordon was a competitive swimmer and rugby player, developing a lifelong love of sport, camaraderie, and friendly competition.
In the late 1950s, Gordon moved with his family to England, where he enlisted in the Metropolitan Police Force and began a distinguished career serving as a London “Bobby.” In 1969, Gordon married Marcia May (Haley) Templeton, his beloved wife of nearly sixty years. Together, they eventually made their way from London to Orleans, Massachusetts, where they built a life and raised their daughter, Carrie (Templeton) Huber.
Gordon went on to enjoy a long and successful career with CVS. Over more than three decades as a manager, he became known for “whipping stores into shape,” leading locations from Hyannis to Orleans with pride, dedication, and strong leadership. In the early 1990s, he became an American citizen—an achievement he held with immense pride, gratitude, and honor.
Above all else, Gordon loved time spent with family and friends. He could often be found on the golf course, at Nauset Beach or Pilgrim Lake, cheering on the Patriots, attending Cardinals games at Eldredge Park, or playing mini golf with his cherished grandchildren, Haley and Seamus. These moments brought him his greatest joy.
Gordon will be remembered for his kind demeanor, warm and friendly personality, and the steady, comforting presence he brought to all who knew and loved him.
A private family service will be held at a later time, with burial at Orleans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation
