Harwich Fund Awards 11 Grants

HARWICH – The Harwich Fund has awarded $30,000 to 11 local nonprofits. The grants will provide warm clothing and nutritious food for residents in need and support essential transportation for veterans, mentorships,  educational programs, outdoor adventures for children, while contributing to a community resource at the town's former Bank Street firehouse. 
The biggest donation was made to the Harwich Children’s Fund/Friends of Harwich Youth. The $5,000 will help fund the 2025-2026 “We Have You Covered” clothing drive. The Harwich Children’s Fund helps children in the Monomoy Regional School District with essential needs and referrals for services. The program anticipates helping 3,000 residents this year.
Harwich’s Bank Street Firehouse will receive $2,000 to help fund new kitchen appliances for the venue, which will host events, such as educational seminars, dinners, and local clubs. The Firehouse will be open to all members of the community.
Cape Kids Meals will receive $3,000 to help reduce the number of hungry children over weekends and vacation weeks. The program anticipates serving 57 local children and their families every week through its Childhood Hunger Relief program.
Behavioral Health Innovators, Inc. will also receive $3,000 for its PASS Program (Positive Alternatives for Student Support), an intervention model created to serve students who face in-school or out-of-school suspension. Through PASS students develop positive coping skills. PASS plans to serve 40 Harwich students and families this year.
Homeless Prevention Council, Inc. will also receive $3,000. The council assists approximately 500 Harwich residents who are at risk of losing their homes.  The grant supports the council’s personalized case management program for Harwich residents. 
Lower Cape Outreach Council, Inc. was awarded $2,500. The council partners with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit, to help supply approximately 110 local youth and seniors in need of wintercoats this holiday season.
The Family Table Collaborative will receive $2,500 to provide meals for the Harwich Community Fridge.. The funds will provide prepared, nutritious meals to the community fridge twice a week for a year. Harwich residents in need of a prepared meal can come into the community center and take home a prepared meal whenever the community center is open with no registration or qualification concerns. The program is estimated to help 200 Harwich residents, mainly seniors per year.
YMCA Cape Cod will get $2,500 for its Non-Summer Food for Harwich Early Education Center and After School programs. Pleasant Bay Community Boating (PBCB) has been awarded $2,500 for school programming in 2026 for First Sail programming for Harwich Elementary School students. The grant will give on-the-water experience to 25 students who would not necessarily have the opportunity otherwise. Cape Cod Museum of Natural History will also get $2,500 to help fund the Coastal Explorer Science Program which brings STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) programming to 465 Harwich Elementary students. Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center was awarded $1,500 toward providing free, round-trip transportation to life-sustaining medical appointments for veterans.
