Santa Greets Children, Families At Orleans Yacht Club

by Ryan Bray

ORLEANS – Santa Claus might travel the world by sleigh. But last weekend in Orleans, he arrived by boat.
A crowd of children and families awaited excitedly for the Jolly Old Elf’s annual arrival at the Orleans Yacht Club on Nov. 29. As is the custom, Santa arrived by boat with an entourage led by the town’s natural resources manager, Nate Sears.
Santa greeted children on the dock before heading inside the Yacht Club, where children eagerly told him and Mrs. Claus what they wanted for Christmas. Staff from The Rail and Barley Neck served breakfast, after which Santa made an appearance nearby at Snows Home and Garden on Main Street.
The event, sponsored by the Orleans Chamber of Commerce, followed this year’s tree lighting ceremony and Holiday Shopping Stroll on Nov. 28.
