HARWICH – “Annie” opens at the Cape Cod Theatre Company/Harwich Junior Theatre on Dec. 5 and will be on stage through Dec. 30.
With book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strause and lyrics by Martin Charnin, “Annie” is based on the popular comic strip “Little Orphan Annie” by Harold Gray.
Set in 1930s New York City, the show focuses on Annie, who finds herself abandoned in an orphanage run by the cruel and embittered Miss Hannigan. With pluck, positivity and the help of the other girls in the orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC, charming everyone's hearts and foiling Miss Hannigan's evil machinations in this fun-filled adventure.
The role of Annie will be shared by Sylvie Weimer and Phoebe Murray Schuessler.
The winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the play will be presented Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 2 p.m. and Mondays Dec. 29 and 30. There is no show on Christmas day. Performances are at the Cape Cod Theatre Company/HJT, 105 Division St. in West Harwich.
Tickets are $35 for adults, $33 for seniors and $21 for those under 21. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit
