HARWICH – Monomoy field hockey senior forward Sam Clarke recorded her 100th point last Thursday, Sept. 25 against Nauset, a statistical milestone for the five-year varsity contributor.
Clarke assisted on two scores in the 4-0 win, reaching the century-mark on the first goal. The first assist was on a corner that she passed across, she said, and the second was one she curved in.
A three-time Cape and Islands League All-Star for a consistently dominant team, Clarke’s path to 100 points has included goals in the state semifinals and championship game.
On senior day last Saturday, before the Sharks beat Dover-Sherborn, head coach Kyle Cappallo said Clarke, a captain, was “a huge part of the team’s success.”
“She’s been key for us,” he said after the game.
Clarke has always been in the top three on the team in scoring, according to Cappallo, and has consistently served as a weapon on the forward line. A hundred points is “not an easy feat,” he said.
Clarke said she had, through the years, “definitely accomplished so much” that she couldn’t have done without her coaches and teammates.

“It feels good that I did that,” she said.

The 100th point hit by Clarke against Nauset was actually the first in a trio of numerical accomplishments reached by Sharks field hockey players in the last week. On Monday against Falmouth, junior forward/midfielder Emery Cappallo scored her 100th point, and sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Swett made her 200th career save.
