While the golf state championships have already taken place, the MIAA state tournaments for team sports kicked off Wednesday when the girls volleyball tournaments got underway.

The Cape Cod Tech girls were the Lower Cape’s only volleyball team to qualify for the state tournament, as they earned the No. 20 seed and were scheduled to host No. 45 Academy of the Pacific Rim at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the preliminary round of the Division 5 state tournament.

The field hockey state tournament brackets were scheduled to be released Tuesday after The Chronicle’s deadline, however, two-time defending state semifinalist Monomoy is expected to be among the top seeds in the Division 4 field. The Sharks were ranked fourth in the last edition of the MIAA power rankings released Oct. 27.

Soccer state tournament brackets were scheduled to be released Wednesday, with both Monomoy and Nauset represented for both boys and girls. The Nauset boys were ranked ninth in Division 3 in the Oct. 27 power rankings, while the Warriors girls were ranked No. 19.

The Monomoy boys were ranked seventh in Division 4 in the Oct. 27 rankings, and the girls were ranked No. 16.

The Cape Tech, Monomoy and Nauset football teams each failed to qualify for the postseason, although they will continue to play non-playoff games before closing out their respective schedules on Thanksgiving Eve or Thanksgiving morning.
