Ruth M. Peabody

Ruth M. Peabody, age 89, of Chatham and Belleair Beach, Florida died peacefully on July 13, 2025 after a brief illness. She was born on September 26, 1935 to Henry and Mary (Freiberger) Stokinger in Holbrook, MA. She graduated from Holbrook High School, and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse from the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for many years in the Whitman, MA public school system.  After retirement, she enjoyed travel, family and gardening on Cape Cod.
She is survived by her children Judith McCabe and husband Stephen of East Bridgewater, Richard of Chatham, and Teresa of Chatham. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Richard T. Peabody and her daughter Kathleen.
Ruth is also survived by her grandson Jacob Heath and his wife Meg of Illinois, and granddaughter Jessica Pelz and her husband Joe of Florida, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A private burial is planned.
