Summer is just starting to rev up, and West Harwich is the place to be for some of the best dining on the Lower Cape.
Tucked away on the quiet and quaint Earl Road is Tides Kitchen and Bar, one of the Pelham House Resort’s dining destinations. The restaurant and bar are a part of the Pelham on Earl property which has a fun, laid-back energy throughout. The Pelham’s other dining establishments include the Rooftop, The Poolhouse, and Waves. The entire hydrangea-filled property at Tides is peaceful and serene, giving off major summery Cape Cod vibes.
Chef Dan Cote is at the helm at Tides and recently changed the menu from a Mexican theme to one with more of a fresh, coastal flair.
“We’ve had a pretty great start to our 2025 season,” he says. “And with the new menu we are looking forward to continuing to be a standout culinary experience in the area.”
With an array of locally sourced ingredients and elevated small plates, handhelds and larger entrees, Tides has something for everyone on the menu.
Cote says, “Our tri-colored fried cauliflower is a classic favorite. It’s fried and tossed in a barbeque spice and topped with a chipotle aioli. The scallop dish is another fan favorite. We use Midnight Our scallops and they come in daily. It’s served with some couscous, a marinated olive and roasted cauliflower mix, with a bit of a Middle Eastern spice.”
Other standout items on the Tides menu include the Pelham focaccia with pimento cheese, Chatham quahogs, oysters and a Maple Brook Farm burrata panzanella. With bold flavors and thoughtful ingredients, the salads have several enhancement options like lobster salad, scallops, and shrimp. Tides features several handhelds like a smash burger, cajun seared po’ boy and lobster rolls. Gluten-free buns are also available, which is always a plus.
Cote admits they get a bit of a rush at the bar, and it’s clear why. There is a full selection of draft and bottled beer, wines and cocktails, and even a mocktail menu. There are craft margaritas and martinis on the drink menu as well. Signature cocktails like the Lavender Lux and Cucumber Cooler are standouts.
Cote says that Tides is “a cross between the Pelham’s Poolhouse and Rooftop restaurants with many of the same types of dishes the locals will appreciate. The restaurant opens up to the pool courtyard area so it makes for a great family friendly spot.”
He notes that many guests enjoy that Tides is so accessible for groups of any size, as the walls opening up to the courtyard and grassy area tucked away in back of the Pelham on Earl hotel.
“Honestly, we have a mix of hotel guests and locals alike joining us at Tides, with people stopping in after the beach or to join us at the bar,” Cote says. “We definitely get a lot of families visiting, and while they wait for their food to be served they can send the kids over to the lawn for games and shuffleboard.”
Chef Cote says, “We are continuing to carve out that niche of being a culinary workhorse on the Cape.”
Reservations are available on Open Table for Tides but are certainly not required.
One exciting treat the Pelham properties offer its guests is the “Pelham Passport.” Upon check-in, guests are given a passport to be stamped. If guests dine at all of the Pelham’s restaurants and collect a stamp from each one by Labor Day, they are rewarded with a three-night stay in the offseason. How fun is that!
Be sure to stop into Tides Kitchen and Bar on the way back from the beach or with the family for a delicious night out soon.
