Select Board Votes On Reorganization And Committee Appointments

BREWSTER – On Monday, the select board voted unanimously on a reorganization of the board: Mary Chaffee will serve as chair, Amanda Bebrin will serve as vice chair and Ned Chatelain will serve as clerk.
New appointees and liaisons were also voted upon by the board.
Chaffee served as a member of the Sea Camps advisory committee, along with Cindy Bingham, who is no longer serving on the select board. Caroline McCarley and Bebrin were appointed to fill the two seats. McCarley has been the chair of the Sea Camps advisory committee and said she would love to stay on in some capacity. Bebrin has also been involved in the project and the committee since its inception. This past year she was exploring different committees but said she would love to return to the Sea Camps in this role.
The select board members also serve as liaisons to a number of committees, commissions and boards. Chaffee said each member will take on around eight liaison roles this year.
“Our liaison roles help the select board and the nearly 50 town committees work efficiently,” she said. “The select board liaisons are facilitators, communicators and problem solvers. [They are] certainly not directors of committee activities.”
As chair, it is up to Chaffee to make those decisions. There are about 38 committees and boards that will need to be assigned select board liaisons. The announcement of those roles will take place at the next select board meeting.
