Eugene ‘Beanie’ Eldredge
September 26, 2024
Eugene “Beanie” Eldredge, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep August 27th 2024.
He grew up on Cape Cod Mass in Chatham, everyone knew him as Beanie, he was a longtime resident of Cape Cod Massachusetts.
He loved sports, especially football. He was a huge New England Patriot fan and loved Tom Brady even after he left the team. He loved baseball too, his team was the Boston Red Sox. And he loved to watch and play golf.
He was an ARMY VETERAN who served for this country proudly as a young man.
He had 4 children from his 1st wife in Massachusetts, 2 that have passed before him - Donna & Christopher - and 2 surviving daughters, Corine & Karen.
Eugene moved to New Jersey in the 80’s and married his 2nd wife Patricia Eldredge. They then moved to Pownal, Vermont where they lived for many years after. They were married for about 23 years before she passed away in 2004 in Bennington, Vermont at 63.
Eugene was alone for many years but worked at The Williams Inn for over 20 years until he was 80 years of age. He had many friends young and old and he would go golfing with his co workers often of all ages and would talk to anyone who would listen, especially about sports!
So many knew him in his community just seeing him sitting on his deck in his front yard or in town at the Stop & Shop or going for his paper at Cumbies, even at the bank and post office they were all his daily routes. He would stop and talk to everyone. His community would always help him if he needed a hand. He was also a cat lover, he had a heart for animals. He also had 4 step daughters in PA & NJ - Susan, Linda, Jill & Patty.
He was closest to his daughter Jill who would visit often and they spoke every day.
He also had 7 siblings: 3 brothers that passed before him - Billy, Joe & Ralph; and is survived by 3 brothers Rich, Jim and Ted and 1 sister, Mary Jane; and his sister in law Margret (his brother Joe’s wife) who he kept close with through the years.
He will be missed dearly by anyone that knew him. Rest in Peace Eugene, we will see you when we get there. xo
