Music will fill the air for a great cause on Saturday, Sept. 7 as Harwich Port’s Reciprocity Artisans Market hosts a concert to benefit The Children’s Center, a program of Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless (HECH) and the the longest-running community-based preschool in town.

Maryland-born soul and country singer-songwriter Maggie Rose will perform a concert at Reciprocity as part of her No One Gets Out Alive Tour, along with special guests The Cal Kehoe Band and The Tummies. Rose's new album “No One Gets Out Alive” has been named one of the top 20 albums for 2024 by Rolling Stone magazine, and her single “Fake Flowers” has been received with enthusiasm. The concert doors will open at 3, and Rose will take the stage at 5:45 p.m.
Reciprocity is a unique, consignment-based artisans market featuring the work of talented artists and artisans. All products are handmade with unique designs, some with vintage or reclaimed elements. Gifts, home decor, gourmet food, jewelry, pottery, candles, original artwork, vintage linens, handbags, pillows, custom clothing and even infants’ and toddlers’ handknit sweaters can all be found at Reciprocity. Founder and owner Becca Ahrensfeld started Reciprocity over six years ago with her artist daughter, Maddie. Maddie creates original drawings and paintings which she and Becca make into more than 100 original note cards, calendars, clothing, coasters and more. Through Reciprocity, the mother-daughter pair currently represent over 50 mostly local artisans.
“Many are artists that we met when Maddie was participating in the local artisan markets on Cape Cod and Key West,” Becca said. “The shop has been a dream come true for us. Maddie is able to showcase her work and we can offer a space to our artist friends who helped us along the way to get her career on its path, hence the name Reciprocity — a word that I believe to be so important. We are so lucky to have a village of people in our lives that have enhanced Maddie’s life!”
Becca said Maggie Rose came into their lives during the year of COVID, 2020, when Rose’s bandmate and a mutual friend, bassist Judd Fuller, called to see if Becca and Maddie would like to have them play at the shop.
“They were having trouble finding a venue to play live, since many of the venues were canceling live concerts,” Becca said. “We jumped at the opportunity! For the last four years they have come to entertain us. We have raised funds for several nonprofits on the Cape including 4-H and CapeAbilities, and this year it is for The Children’s Center, part of the Harwich Ecumenical Council. We have two acts warming her up, a duo called The Tummies (Judd Fuller and Dana Radford) and The Cal Kehoe Band.”
Just a few tickets are left for the Sept. 7 concert. If any remain by the day of the performance, they may be purchased at the door for $85. To purchase, or for more information, visit reciprocityharwichport.square.site/ or call 774-209-3525. Reciprocity Artisans Market is located at 4 Cross St. in Harwich Port.
