Beverly Firnhaber

June 14, 2024

Beverly (Kulikowski) Firnhaber, age 88, of South Chatham, Massachusetts formerly of Avon, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Born in Harford, Connecticut to parents Maneck and Lena (Bonadeo) Kulikowski, and raised in the neighboring town of Avon, Beverly’s life was a tapestry of dedication, love and adventure.

After graduating from Mount St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford, Beverly reconnected with an old elementary school friend, Charles Firnhaber. After Charles completed his military service overseas, Beverly and Charles started dating and the rest is history...Beverly embarked on her professional journey in the insurance industry, working at Connecticut Mutual. Her career path took a vibrant turn as she became a travel agent, sharing her passion for exploration with others. She particularly loved leading group tours all across Europe.

Eventually, Beverly chose to focus on her family, becoming a devoted stay-at-home mother for her two sons, Michael and Jeffrey, a role she cherished deeply. The family would spend summer vacations throughout the years on Cape Cod, eventually purchasing their own home in Chatham in the early 80’s.

After Charles retired from being a professional engineer, Beverly and Charles finally moved full time to their cape house, embracing the coastal lifestyle. Beverly and Charles filled their time with volunteering at many organizations. Beverly was very dedicated at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, marked with a 20 year achievement award in 2023. She enriched so many lives and fostered a community of learning and appreciation for the natural world. Beverly and Charles were also active in the German American Club of Cape Cod, Elder Services of Cape Cod and Beverly was a member of the Holy Redeemer Woman’s Club. Beverly also enjoyed setting sail on numerous cruises including Bermuda, visiting the historic cities of Germany, and creating memories at the majestic locks of the Panama Canal. A lover of words and wit, Beverly found joy in word puzzles, a hobby that reflected her sharp intellect up until the end. She also enjoyed cheering on the Red Sox and admiring her gardens.

Beverly leaves behind her sons Michael Firnhaber of East Hampton, CT and Jeffrey Firnhaber of Boxborough, MA and her numerous cousins and friends. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 2014. Her memory will continue to inspire us, like a lighthouse guiding ships in the night.

A Visitation for Beverly will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Rt.137, South Chatham, MA followed by a Funeral Mass in her honor at 11:00 AM.
