Tenth Annual Pugfest Nets Thousands For Charities
--- The PugFest music and food festival was held at Brooks Park in Harwich Aug. 17 with more than 300 people attending. The annual neighborhood event netted more than $6,000 to benefit the Family Pantry of Cape Cod, The Harwich Fund and the Stephens family, which lost Brent, a loving husband and father who passed recently from a heart attack while serving on the job as a paramedic. This year's event also included the second annual Jimmy Bartell memorial wiffleball tournament that raised over $2,500 for the Cape Cod Veterans Inc. and $1,725 for Pugfest. Thanks to the local businesses who sponsored the event with donations: The Hot Stove Saloon and Brax Landing donated over 200 hamburgers and hotdogs; Ken Foster donated his time to cook all those burgers and dogs along with his enormous X-Grill from Hall Oil in Dennis; AnyFence for over $1500 in outdoor shower products; Shoreline Pools, an annual donor to the event, donated $500; with the rest of the funds generated from T-shirt sales and raffle tickets. Big thanks to the PugFest organizing team of Joanne Falla, Kathy Hadfield, Jayme Dwyer, Suzanne and Holly Routhier, Mike Schaffer and DJ Thiele. The Stephens family is shown here accepted a check for $3,000. Pictured front row, Derrick Ward, Cooper Stephens, Emily Stephens, Cheryl Ward (Emily's mom); back, D.J.
