CENTENNIAL, Colo. - Sandra Jaye (Evans) Smyth died suddenly, on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Orchard Park Health Care Center in Centennial, Colo. She previously lived in Aurora, Colo.
Sandra (Sandy) was born on February 1, 1965 in Quincy. She was the daughter of Patricia (Swanson) Evans of Sarasota, Fla. and the late Donald S. Evans of So. Sutton and Concord, N.H. Besides her mother, she is survived by her son, Richard Smyth of Aurora, Colo. She also is survived by her brother, Gerald (Jerry) M. Evans, and sister-in-law Janice DiGioia Evans of Chatham. She is survived by her sister, Cynthia D. (Evans) Hines and her brother-in-law, Richard Hines, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She is survived by a niece, Tangee Craig and nephews, Donald S. Evans and Jason Shookus. She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen D. Evans.
Sandra attended Elementary School in Sutton and the Kearsarge Middle School in New London, N.H. She attended Kearsarge High School until her senior year and finished her education in the Denver area. She became a paraplegic in an auto accident at the age of 16. She played wheelchair basketball at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colo., where she had gone for rehabilitation in 1991 and 1992. Sandra worked at the Air Force base that was in Aurora until it closed. Then she worked as a secretary at her church until she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1998.
Sandra had a wonderful personality and would light up a room when she entered it. She was full of fun and was well-liked by most. She could carry on a conversation with anyone. When she was little, she was told that she talked too much, and she answered, “But I have a lot to say!”
