HARWICH PORT — The board of directors of WE CAN has chosen a new executive director to lead the women’s advocacy group. Cape native Dianne Gauthier is a development consultant with Lower Cape Outreach who worked previously with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts; she is set to begin work later this month.
Gauthier will succeed Andi Genser, who will retire later this year.
“I am greatly inspired by WE CAN’s mission and extraordinary programming,” Gauthier wrote in newsletter article. “WE CAN’s staff and dedicated volunteers have been empowering women across Cape Cod for over a decade and I look forward to building on that momentum and strength.”
Gauthier holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Babson College and lives in Marston’s Mills with her husband and children.
Born on the Cape, Gauthier moved to California as a child and remained there through high school before eventually moving to Nantucket. After completing college, getting married and starting her family, Gauthier returned to the Cape in 1999. She began her professional career as an instructional designer and trainer with Bell Atlantic. She then started her own training and organizational development consulting business. During her time as a consultant, Gauthier started a Girl Scout troop for her daughter, which influenced the rest of her career.
Approached to work at then Girl Scouts of Southeastern Massachusetts, Gauthier was inspired by the values of the organization and the ability to empower both women and girls. During her 11-year tenure with Girl Scouts, she received five promotions, helped merge three organizations, adopted a new program model, designed volunteer policies and was instrumental in implementing the marketing software Salesforce. As the senior director of volunteer services, she led the vision and strategy to support and retain 50,000 members. Most recently, Gauthier was a development consultant for the Lower Cape Outreach Council. As a former participant in a WE CAN mentoring program, Gauthier said she truly appreciates and understands the power of WE CAN’s programming.
WE CAN board President Pam Kukla said she is excited to welcome Gauthier to the organization.
“In addition to her considerable operational and development experience, she has been part of the Cape community for many years and has a deep understanding of WE CAN core values, including collaboration with other Cape non-profits,” Kukla wrote in the newsletter article.
