Dorothy "Theo" Vagenas Long

            On December 6th, 2017, Theo Long passed away at Rosewood Manor in Harwich.

            Harwich - Her daughter, Margaret Pappas, and Reverend Judith Davis were at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late LeRoy Long whom she was married to for 67 years. Theo
leaves behind her son Jonathan Long, (Candace), of Charlottesville, Va., her daughter,
Margaret Pappas, (James), of Harwich, two grandsons, Jared and Joel, four great
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister,
Rosamond Barber.

            She is predeceased by her son, Jeffery, granddaughter Erin, siblings: Penny Billias,
William "Skip", and George Vagenas, and Katherine Kelly. Theo was the daughter of
Nelos and Irene Vagenas who immigrated to this country from Greece.

            Theo was born in Harwichport and graduated from Harwich High School in 1943, one
of 13 students. Having been born and raised here she had a great love for the town of
Harwich.

            As a young woman she worked at her father's store, Skip's Market, and ushered at the
Modern Theater in Harwichport. She also worked at the Bunker Lathe Shop and the
Harwichport post office.

            She was a talented artist having painted many Byzantine icons. She had a passion
for reading and making others happy.

            A special thanks to the kind and loving staff and residents at Rosewood Manor.

            A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Episcopal on December 30, 2017, at
11:00 AM.

            In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harwich Fire Association or Brooks
Free Library.
