ORLEANS While local high school athletes are busily preparing for the opening games in their respective winter seasons, local athletes laced up running shoes and donned clever costumes in celebration of the annual Santa Stampede in Orleans on Dec. 2.

The 2017 event was well-attended and featured folks in all manner of attire that included everything from Santas (naturally) to Christmas trees, nutcrackers, and even the bad guys from the first “Home Alone” film.
