Woman Found Dead In Woods
NORTH HARWICH — Following a brief,
intensive search Wednesday afternoon, police located a deceased woman
deep in the woods south of Queen Anne Road.
As of Wednesday evening, the woman's
death was being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police, with
help from the Harwich Police Department and the Barnstable County
Sheriff's Office.
She has been identified as 42-year-old Ronni Williams of Harwich.
Police at the scene said there were no obvious signs of foul play, and
an autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of her death.
Williams was an accomplished photographer, and had gone out for a walk Tuesday morning in the vicinity of the
power lines behind 133 Queen Anne Rd., police say. She was reported
missing Wednesday, and the police and fire department mounted a vigorous
search of the area, using a state police helicopter, a tracking dog from
the county sheriff's office, and off-road vehicles from several area
fire departments. Williams' remains were found off of the NSTAR
right of way, near Flax Pond. She apparently had been alone at the
time of her death.
The air temperature was about 16
degrees when the search was started, with wind chills that made it feel
much colder.
