Ain't She Grand: Chatham's Chase Records 1,000th Career Point
ABINGTON – Savannah Chase recorded the
1,000th point of her basketball career split between Chatham and Monomoy
in the Sharks' 58-33 loss to the Greenwave Friday night.
A senior, Chase came into Friday's South Shore League contest needing 10
points to reach the famed four digit mark. She hit the number on the
nose midway through the second quarter on a 10-foot jumper. Chase
finished with 12 points and currently has 1,002.
Chase scored 173 points her
freshman year, 281 her sophomore season and 380 last year, all for
Chatham's athletic program, which merged with Harwich this year to
become Monomoy Regional. She's scored 168 so far this year for Monomoy
(7-8) and is averaging 11.2 points per game.
Monomoy
coach Joe Nickerson said the team will honor Chase prior to the Sharks'
next home game Friday night against Norwell.
